The original kitchen, with its furnishings and equipment typical of the period, can be found in the cellar of the building, where Mediterranean cooking courses will be held, as well as tasting sessions during which guests will have the opportunity to sample wines and food products from the surrounding region. The building was a wartime hideaway before becoming the headquarters of the Allied Intelligence, and the passionate interest in WWII history – supported by the imprimatur of the British Crown – led the owners to create an exhibition area inside dedicated to “The Allied Forces in Italy” during the Second World War. Here visitors can admire a range of objects – some of them belonging to the family themselves – as well as the results of painstaking restoration work, and the aim of the exhibition is to illustrate a chapter in Europe’s history which is still very much valid today. The reception and conference rooms and the reading rooms, the splendid furnishings that are the signal feature of both the common areas and the bedrooms make this hotel very much one of a kind: a superb Relais, a veritable home-from-home in the heart of the Eternal City. At the reception desk, guests may book guided tours of Rome and other major art cities, for which they will be picked up at the hotel and returned there at the end of the tour.
